I promised this one would be short and useful.
AI was everywhere at Boston Startup Week in September 2025. It’s clear: today, every startup wants an “AI angle.” But the panel “AI at the Helm: Prototyping Smarter as a Product Manager” stood out for one simple reason:
Speed without strategy is a trap.
Yes, AI can blur roles, speed up iterations, and generate outputs in seconds. But if you don’t know the problem you’re solving, or how to take a prototype through regulatory and production hurdles, you’re just building elegant dead ends.
Here’s what I’ve seen work (and what the panel got right):
✔ Start with the problem. Not the prototype.
✔ Use AI to enhance early discovery, but not replace it.
✔ Prototyping ≠ production. Plan that handoff deliberately.
✔ Human oversight isn’t optional. Trust in AI must be earned.
✔ Powerful tools mean nothing without clarity in design inputs, and execution rigor.
In HealthTech, this is especially true.
AI should make you faster and smarter.
